The video answers a common question about whether it is possible to vote without an ID card, confirming that a civil status extract alone is not sufficient. Voters must present either a valid national ID card or a passport.

If the ID card is outdated for example, if the photo is very old or too small, the voter’s appearance has changed, the card does not contain a photo, or a married woman has changed her place of registration while her ID still lists her as single the old ID must be presented along with a new individual civil status extract (biometric). While expedited ID issuance services may be suspended in some areas, such as Mount Lebanon during the week before the elections, they remain available in other governorates.

To obtain a new ID card, applicants must provide:

  • Two passport-sized photos.
  • A new individual civil status extract or an officially certified copy.
  • A blood-type card.
  • Visit the nearest mukhtar (in the area of residence) to obtain an “identification certificate,” then submit an application for the new ID card.
