The report highlights the heavy financial burden of private-school education in Lebanon as the new academic year begins, providing figures on tuition fees and registration costs for two students at different educational levels — sixth grade and tenth grade.

The figures reveal significant variations in school fees, which are now being paid through a combination of “fresh dollars” and Lebanese pounds. Registration fees alone range from several million Lebanese pounds to hundreds of dollars per student, in addition to stationery fees and various other charges.

The report notes that annual tuition fees have reached very high levels, placing considerable pressure on Lebanese household budgets. Foreign-currency tuition ranges from approximately $2,200 to more than $4,000 per student, in addition to tens of millions of Lebanese pounds in local-currency fees.

This is creating unprecedented financial challenges for parents trying to afford their children’s education, as families await greater economic stability and the final approval of school tuition budgets.
