Following reports about the sale and purchase of real estate and land in areas of southern Lebanon currently occupied by the Israeli military, The Speech contacted the mayors of several municipalities, including Zawtar al-Gharbiyeh, Zawtar al-Sharqiyeh, and Rmeish, to verify reports suggesting that some residents of the south were unwilling to return and were considering selling their land.

The mayors categorically rejected these reports, stressing that residents of southern Lebanon remain firmly attached to their land and would not give up even a single inch of it.

The officials also explained that real estate and commercial activity has come to a complete halt, particularly as the affected areas remain under siege and subject to strict security measures and restricted movement, with access limited to UNIFIL convoys.

For the time being, residents’ primary concern is securing their basic daily needs amid these difficult circumstances.
