As part of ongoing efforts to investigate corruption cases and recover misappropriated funds, the Depositors’ Union, together with MP Halima Kaakour and university professor Mohammad Farida, held a press conference to reveal details of a lawsuit filed before the Public Prosecution’s Financial Affairs Department in the Bank Audi case.

The conference addressed serious alleged violations and the names of those named in the lawsuit, including former Prime Minister Najib Mikati, former Banque du Liban Governor Riad Salameh, and the other defendants.

The speakers also highlighted what they described as the serious consequences of continued concealment of transferred and allegedly smuggled funds, stressing that documents and detailed information exist that they say implicate those involved in alleged embezzlement, illicit enrichment, and money laundering.

The conference also featured strong criticism of what the participants described as efforts to obstruct investigations, limit legal proceedings, or keep cases on hold in order to evade legal responsibility and accountability.
