An investigative report documents the killing of the late journalist Amal Khalil. It says the evidence shows she was deliberately targeted. The aim is to preserve the rights of the victim and her family. It also seeks to build a legal case to pursue Israel, at home and abroad.

Journalist Inas Shari said Khalil’s journey was tracked and verified minute by minute. This covers the time from when she set out until her body was recovered from the rubble of the targeted building. The investigation states firmly that Khalil did not enter any closed building during her work. Her mission, it says, was purely journalistic, from dawn to the last moment.

The investigation also rejects Israeli claims that tried to justify striking the building by saying other people had taken shelter there. It says the evidence shows only two people sheltered in the place: Amal Khalil and Zeinab Faraj.

To establish the facts, the team used several methods. These included the testimony of the survivor, Zeinab Faraj. They also included 13 cross-checked testimonies from people who contacted Amal on her last day, eyewitnesses, paramedics and journalists.

The investigation also relied on cross-checking photos and videos and on open-source analysis. A specialized legal team supported the work. The goal is to document the crime and stop the perpetrators from escaping accountability.
